We promised real life learning examples on packaging

I teamed up with Rich Moniz who specializes in eye-tracking

So we can pair data with design insight!

We got some great brands who were interested in a trade:

- They get a free audit
- And we get to share the results with the community here-

The result?
We all learn and grow together!

---

Hotpot Queen is a brand of amazing noodles and sauces

(I always have several jars in my fridge!)

The current noodle packaging is praised for its aesthetics and ability to stand out,

but the founder Jia feels it may be too abstract for consumers,

leading to slower sales velocity

She wants to use data to understand if the packaging is the problem

before making the significant investment to change it

---

The audit will use eye-tracking to test these hunches and guide the next move

Here's what the brand hopes to learn:

😵‍💫   Does the design confuse consumers?
The brand needs to know if its dopamine packaging is causing customers to search for information instead of quickly understanding the product

🍜   Should we add a product photo?
By testing their current package against a version with an image, they will see if it improves clarity or just adds visual clutter

😵   Are we losing to competitors?
The audit will directly compare their design to competitors at shelf to see who is noticed first and where eyes linger- sometimes something that looks great online does not compete well at shelf

This is a perfect example of a brand using data to confirm

whether their packaging needs to consider a refresh

---

What do you think the results be?

What do you think of the packaging?

Stay tuned- results are out soon!
